Groundbreaking ceremony in Mannheim: the start of a new chapter
The building site has been fenced in, the excavators have arrived and are already digging at full speed. The new building is to be ready for occupation in December 2018.cyber-Wear can hardly wait. On 12.04.2018 it will be time for the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on the new site in Mannheim's Friedrichsfeld-West business park. At 4 p.m. the groundbreaking ceremony will take place with staff, families, friends, clients and suppliers, followed by a celebration. Michael Grötsch, deputy mayor with responsibility for business, doesn't want to miss the event either and has already entered it in his diary.
The existing branch in Dossenheim near Heidelberg is already bursting at the seams. cyber-Wear has not just grown in terms of manpower, with new employees requiring more office space - there is also no more space in the warehouse, and dealing with products is a real logistical and organisational challenge. cyber-Wear has been operating from its main branch in Dossenheim since the 2002. Since then the company has grown constantly. An entrance area and conference facilities have been added to the Dossenheim site, together with further office space. New storage facilities were also required, meaning that neighbouring premises have been used, and only last year cyber-Wear opened a new warehouse in Viernheim near Heidelberg.
Its core competency and the unique selling point that sets the company apart from its competitors is the full service provided and the ability to offer all required services on every continent. The full-service package by a single provider comprises customised designs and concepts, production and storage in production facilities and warehouses all around the world, global logistics, the programming of online shops and interfacing these e-commerce platforms with the (mostly SAP-based) systems of large clients, as well as providing multilingual client support. The client base is mostly composed of major corporations and global players that require international support.
The newest company to join the Cybergroup family is CG Fulfillment & Logistics GmbH, which was founded in 2016. The cyber-Wear affiliate is a high-performance fulfilment service provider offering services along the entire logistics chain, including promotional articles, merchandising goods, clothing, print products and point-of-sale materials – in short: outsourced handling of business processes.
All this requires a great deal of space, which is currently being created in Mannheim. The new 8,000 m² location in Mannheim-Friedrichsfeld will provide 3,950 m² of warehouse space, 1,564 m² of office space – 250 m² of which will house a state-of-the-art design lab – and 270 m² of social areas. Cybergroup is investing 6 million euros in the construction with the attendant infrastructure and outdoor facilities. In addition to offices, customised high-rack storage facilities are being created, enabling low-cost warehousing because they make optimum use of room height. While increased stock turnover reduces costs for everyone involved, order picking operations are adapted to the individual order volume.
