PSI Sustainability Award for #starkeschiene
We won!!! With its #starkeschiene submission, cyber-Wear has scooped the "Sustainable Campaign" award."And the winner in category 7, "Sustainable Campaign", is ... cyber-Wear Heidelberg GmbH!" proclaims the voice on the video.
To further mark the "Starke Schiene" ("Rail Power") group strategy of its major customer Deutsche Bahn AG, cyber-Wear Heidelberg GmbH joined forces with the railway giant to come up with an accompanying range of advertising materials. Deutsche Bahn has one fundamental interest: to get more traffic onto rails. "Our "Starke Schiene" strategy is creating the conditions for this to happen. Boosting rail power for the climate means shifting transport onto the rail network to reduce overall CO2 emissions by up to 10.5 million tonnes per year, equivalent to the annual carbon footprint of a million people," Deutsche Bahn says.
Deutsche Bahn contacted us about this campaign and commissioned us to develop advertising materials with a focus on sustainability and the "Made in Germany" label. All the articles are common-or-garden items for daily use and sustainable alternatives to their "plastic" predecessors - better still, they are genuine eye-catchers which also serving as attractive advertising media. This is because all the articles convey an ecological message which doesn't just make the recipient chuckle but also makes them think - every design communicates an important message on behalf of the environment. The aim of the campaign is to use the articles and their messages to draw attention to Deutsche Bahn's basic concern and to communicate the importance of the issue.
Our campaign presents a total of nine articles: A retractable ballpoint pen, a water bottle, a storage or lunch box, a carrier bag for fruit and vegetables, a reusable cup, "Gute Schokolade" (a Fairtrade German chocolate brand), a beeswax cloth, a pencil and a notepad made of grass paper.
The ballpoint pen is made of recycled RPET with muted case colours. The RPET material, made in Europe from recycled PET bottles, is suitable for long-term and sustainable promotional use. The model has already been given the Sustainability Award as well as being nominated for the "Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis" (German Sustainability Award). The clip retractor's special form ensures that your advertising will always be on top and turns this simple ballpoint pen into a real eye-catcher. The pen comes in a box which is also made of recycled PET bottles.
The Koziol water bottle was produced using 100% green electricity and is 100% recyclable. It is made in Germany, and its production involves very short transport paths. During production, up to 90% less energy is consumed than is the case in the manufacture, for instance, of glass or aluminium. The bottle inspires with its ultra-lightweight design, and the fact that it can be fully dismantled makes it ideal for the dishwasher.
The same can be said of the Koziol Art Box, which is sustainably produced in exactly the same way and is also dishwasher-safe, as well as being free of both BPA and melanin. The design is very simple and, above all, practical: The clip fastener sits in a recess, which means that the box can't accidentally be opened when you are out and about.
The "Ecocare" fruit and vegetable bag is the ideal alternative to the single-use supermarket plastic bag. This polyester bag with its drawstring is very light and compact and can simply be stashed away in your pocket or handbag when you go shopping. It can carry up to 3 kilogrammes' worth of fruit and vegetables and is washable at 30 degrees - meaning that it can be reused again and again.
The Premium Deluxe reusable cup is a twin-walled insulated cup with a screw-on lid and innovative 2k seal, making the cup 100% leak-proof. This article was also made in Germany with very short transport paths. The article is BPA-free and 100% recyclable.
"Gute Schokolade" from Plant for the Planet does what it says on the wrapper: a little bit of good with every chunk. For every five bars of delicious Swiss chocolate sold, a tree is planted to counteract the greenhouse effect. Here there is individual advertising on the cardboard slip case.
Our beeskin beeswax cloth can be used to cover cereal bowls or pack fresh food without any need for plastic. The paper is FSC-certified and comes from Sweden, where 3 new trees are planted for each one that is felled. All beeskins are laboratory-tested for contaminants, pesticides and heavy metals and comply with EU Basic Directive 1935/2004. This beeswax cloth is produced in Berlin from European raw materials and packaged and shipped from there. With this cloth, you'll have fun packing your food and do something good for the environment. All this means that, with this campaign alone, several hundred trees have already been planted, which are absorbing CO2, converting it into wood and giving off oxygen.
The Stabilo Greengraph pencil, which is FSC-certified and made of 100% FSC-certified wood, comes in a striking matt-green design.
Our last article from the #starkeschiene campaign is a green notepad. The 30 sheets in this pad were sustainably produced in Germany from grass paper - a good, sustainable alternative!
