cyber-Wear receives GoGreen certificate

The use of the GoGreen products and services provided by the Deutsche Post DHL Group means that greenhouse gas emissions generated by the shipment of packages has been offset through climate protection projects.

In the logistics sector too, the theme of sustainability has been of key importance for some time now, as customers prefer sustainable products in all areas of life. GoGreen uses a set of international standards to allow the greenhouse gas emissions generated through the shipment of letters and packages to be determined and a financial evaluation to be carried out, so that the greenhouse gas emissions of the shipments can then be offset through climate protection projects, thus making a real contribution towards climate protection. The CO2 report that is a constituent part of GoGreen’s service helps customers to get an understanding of the environmental impact of their logistics activities so that improvements and mitigating measures can be directed in a more effective and targeted way. In addition, the advisory service provided highlights simple, easy-to-implement processes which help to conserve resources and outlines suitable measures to reduce both emissions and other factors that have an adverse effect on the environment.

In the past few days, cyber-Wear was presented with their GoGreen certificate for the year 2018 by the Deutsche Post DHL Group. This certificate attests to the offsetting of 23.28 tonnes of CO2 emissions created through the transportation of packages in the year 2018, in a range of different climate protection projects across the world. The CO2 emissions calculation of the transported quantity of shipments was drawn up by the Carbon Management Team of the Deutsche Post DHL Group which coordinates the use of emissions credits in recognised and quality-controlled climate protection projects. The calculation method and the figures relating to cyber-Wear were reviewed and certified by the independent association Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS).

Support is given to selected and registered climate protection projects across the world, as well as to the Deutsche Post DHL Group's own project in Lesotho, South Africa. Here, the distribution of highly efficient cookers means that people are now using less firewood for food preparation. This results in a reduction in environmentally-damaging emissions; the people themselves have less exposure to the harmful effects of smoke whilst they are cooking, and there is a decrease in deforestation on account of the reduced demand for firewood. In addition to this, support is also given to projects that, for example, provide ceramic water purifiers in Cambodia, promote reforestation in Uganda and Honduras, and assist with the repair and renovation of water wells in Malawi.
