BeachCup please 19
A great atmosphere, exciting matches, cool music, perfect weather and cold drinks: that was BeachCup 2019. Thirty-two teams competed for the coveted trophy, which a new winner was able to raise in triumph."It's 22 June 2019, beach volleyball for the eighth time, hello Ketsch!" With these words presenter Christian Pudlo launched the eighth Cybergroup BeachCup. Thirty-two teams entered the arena, each with their own theme music, and were greeted by a tumultuous crowd and the cyber cheerleaders. The first matches in the four arenas of the court sponsors Reflects, Mahlwerck, Fare and Senator were not long in coming, and started immediately after the arrival of the teams. The teams themselves could hardly wait, because after weeks of hard training everyone was very well prepared for the tournament and eager to win the cup. Anyone who thinks that the BeachCup is a tournament for beginners with the attitude of "I'll be happy if the ball goes over the net" is very mistaken. The teams are becoming more and more professional and they train and prepair thoroughly in advance. The team spirit within the teams is exemplary. Members motivate one another, cheer one another on, clap their hands and cheer. And they all want one thing: the trophy.
While the beach volleyball teams gave their all, the well-known popular DJ LaDous played feel-good music. From his DJ tower he had the best overall view and knew exactly what music to play to give the teams a final boost a few minutes before the end of the game. Next to him stood Radio Regenbogen presenter Christian Pudlo, whom Cybergroup was happy to welcome to the BeachCup once more. He hosted the entire tournament. Masseurs and even physiotherapists were available to relieve the joints and provide prompt treatment.
The junior BeachCup fans were of course also well looked after. A bouncy castle in the form of an oversized football attracted all the children. The table football, the kid's pool and the children's make-up in the afternoon were also very popular. The basketball shoot, in which two people were able to throw basketballs into the baskets at the same time, was highly popular with young and old.
As every year, the tournament lived up to its slogan "Play+Fun+Party = BeachCup". During the tournament there was a lot of partying and of course the ZOGI-Players-Night guaranteed a lot of fun. The new location of Playa del MA in Mannheim repeatedly drew guests outdoors, because with three sunny terraces, a wonderful beach and a dance floor directly on the water it was the ideal place to have a great time.
The "Smashing Bankers", the team of Volksbank Kurpfalz, had an especially good reason to celebrate. They quickly became one of the favourites and fought their way to the final with a lot of skill. After the "Bärenbande" of Magna sweets, the defending champions, were eliminated in the semi-final, the "Smashing Bankers" fought with the "ATLANTIS Angels" for the trophy in an exciting and very close final. In the match for third place, the "Bärenbande" came out on top against the "Mahlwerck Chiggers".
