Automated packaging power

The warehouse in Mannheim forms the heart of our fulfilment solutions. With the Autostore and Storojet systems, a new level of dispatch has already been achieved. This week, CVP Impack is revolutionising packaging efficiency in the cyber warehouse.

The warehouse at our headquarters in Mannheim is our global centrepiece. With the fully automated Autostore storage and picking system and the automated Storojet small parts warehouse, a new packaging system takes our shipping capacities to a new level. In the course of this week, the state-of-the-art CVP Impack packing machine will be installed and commissioned in the cyber warehouse.

The automatic inline packaging system determines the required parcel size for an order, packs the items, weighs the parcel and labels it. The package is the perfect size and makes filling material superfluous. The smooth process saves both labour costs and packaging material, enabling an increase in output of up to 500 packs per hour!

The CVP Impack automates packaging and replaces an average of 15 manual packing stations. This leads to a reduction in labour costs and increases the overall efficiency of the packaging process. Minimising the volume of cardboard leads to a significant reduction in shipping costs thanks to custom-fit packaging, which also reduces expenditure on corrugated cardboard and filling material. A wide variety of products can be processed seamlessly. Rigid or flexible products of different sizes are packed together to deliver orders with single or multiple items. Precisely fitting packaging also saves up to 30% cardboard and minimises the need for filling material. This is not only environmentally friendly, but also leads to considerable cost savings.

The storage area was further restructured for the new packaging solution and individual walls were knocked down to optimise the shipping process. The highly efficient packaging machine was then set up in just one day!
