4x Promotional Gift Awards!

84 companies, both promotional product suppliers and distributors and advertising agencies and companies, from twelve European countries had their products put to the test for the Promotional Gift Award. The products were divided into the following categories: Giveaways, Communicative Products, Premium Products, Custom-Made Designs, Best Practice, Merchandising and Customising Technologies. 

In the Custom-Made Designs category, we won twice! Our first product awarded in this category was our DB “From jacket to pen” ballpoint pen. This is an upcycling project, and when you see the final product, you simply can’t believe how such an elegant writing implement can possibly have been made predominately from old work shirts from Deutsche Bahn’s team. The DB ballpoint pen is based on manaomea’s “better pens” – ballpoint pens made from textile scraps and manaomea’s signature boiled bio-resin. It is, indeed, all in the details, and the fantastic look and feel of each carefully designed “From jacket to pen” ballpoint pen make it a real pleasure to write with. What’s more, its stainless-steel refill is also replaceable.

The second award that we won in the Custom-Made Designs category was for our “Ford Explorer Outdoor Merch” box, which comes in a Ford Explorer design with an outdoor merchandising collection based on the SUV of the same name. This is more than just a box. It’s the most efficient and effective way to present the new Ford Explorer collection: a showroom display concept for marketing the Explorer in China, complete with branded Ford merchandising with an outdoor focus. Super stylish and eye-catching, with original logo and a combination lock, the box makes you want to see what’s inside, because that’s where all of the product samples are. In addition, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Promotional Gift Award, a Public Prize was presented for the very first time, for which votes could be cast on the HAPTICA®//ONLINE platform and for which we won 2nd and 3rd place! All winning products will be exhibited at HAPTICA® live ‘23 at the World Conference Center Bonn on 15 March 2023! 

The “Miami Vibes Capsule Collection 2022” won a well-deserved second place in the Public Prize. Based on the 1963 Ford Mustang and featuring UV effects, thanks to the innovative UV-changing printing process, the “Miami Vibes” Ford Lifestyle Collection has a real retro feel to it. The design and colours of the sweatshirts, t-shirts, caps and other products in this merchandising series are reminiscent of the US cult series “Miami Vice”. In an accompanying NFT project, launched in co-operation with Asch Motorsport, NFT holders were also invited to help give a rusty 1966 Ford Mustang back its shine – with the chance to ultimately win this muscle car. The 18-month restoration brought with it exclusive community experiences and merch drops based around the iconic car. 

We also took third place in the Public Prize for our DB Rubber Duck Journey – Schnabels® conductor duck, with QR code and matching smartphone game! The original Schnabels® conductor duck, developed in collaboration with mbw, connects the analogue and digital world in a fun way: Scanning the QR code on the conductor duck enables users to quickly and easily download the Rubber Duck Journey app – a mobile game – and unlock the conductor duck in the game. Working your way up the player levels to build up your duck’s abilities is one of the many exciting things you can do in the app. Users can also explore the countless landscapes and rivers, either on their own or within the community, to collect a variety of items.
