Sun & Fun at the ninth Cybergroup BeachCup

Finally, last weekend it was once again time for “summer, sun and the BeachCup”. The three-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic made this year’s BeachCup something very special. A weekend of pure sunshine, warm sand, roaring spectators and balls smashing through the air.

Everyone was looking forward to this moment very much:“The time has finally come for the BeachCup. A warm welcome to you all, it’s so nice to see you again,” is how Steven Baumgaertner opened the ninth Cybergroup BeachCup after a three-year break. Who will claim the coveted winner’s trophy this time? There was plenty of palpable motivation and fighting spirit in evidence on Friday during the warm-up and barbecue.

The defending champions were the “Smashing Bankers” from Volksbank Kurpfalz, who took the 2019 winner’s trophy in an exciting match against the “Atlantis Angels” from Master Italia. This time, the Italians, who were the secret favourites from the start, appeared under the moniker “Atlantis Fioi”. The “Smashing Bankers” were the first to enter the arena carrying their trophy, and all the other teams followed, cheered on by the cyber cheerleaders and thunderous applause.

Our favourite house DJ Marcel, known as DJ la Dous, got the atmosphere buzzing from the start with some apt feel-good tracks. Our presenter Kevin Gerwin joined him on the DJ pulpit and guided us through the entire day.

Of course, young fans of the BeachCup didn't miss out either. They flocked around our Elsa – a bouncy castle in the shape of an oversized duck – along with a few older visitors. The three pools and the children’s face painting in the afternoon were also very popular. The basketball shoot, where two people can throw basketballs into the baskets at the same time, and the obligatory ice cream van were besieged by young and old.

Refreshing drinks, delicious BBQ food and a huge cake buffet provided culinary compensation and new energy while the teams were giving their all and our DJ was heating things up. There were also great massages to be had in the massage tent to relax and prepare for the next match with new energy.

The team from Master Italia, the “Atlantis Fioi”, gained a huge round of applause and ended the day particularly happy. They beat the “Mahlwerck Chiggers” to achieve their long-awaited victory. Congratulations are also in order for the runners-up Mahlwerck and the “Bärenbande” from Magna sweets, who once again secured third place, as they did at the last BeachCup. Fourth place went to the Prodir team. THANK YOU for your passion and professionalism and such exciting games. There was a big after-party at the Players Night in the boathouse!
