Cybergroup now has a total of six hazardous goods officers

As soon as a company ships so-called "hazardous goods" or is involved in their transport, it must appoint at least one hazardous goods officer. Cybergroup had in the past extensively trained two employees for this purpose. Due mainly to the steadily increasing number of shipping orders, the company has now trained additional dangerous goods officers in this field, so that at present there are six trained specialists in total. The training is refreshed every two years by a course organiser accredited by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The six participants have in part received a refresher course and in part, for the first time, detailed training in the field of hazardous goods. The training included the ADR certificate for the transport of hazardous goods by road, the IMDG certificate for sea freight and the IATA certificate for air freight. Cybergroup has acquired both the PK1 and PK2 personnel categories, allowing dangerous goods to be both packaged and shipped. After attending the three-day course and passing the examination, participants receive a certificate from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Hazardous goods officers ensure the safe transport of hazardous goods in a number of different ways. Firstly they take stock of all the company's operations in order to obtain an overview. For this purpose they collect the necessary information and documents within the company. After taking stock they monitor these operations in order to ensure that the regulations on the transport of hazardous goods are complied with. As soon as hazardous goods are identified they are packed, labelled and documented in accordance with the regulations. The goods are then shipped by a carrier specially certified for this purpose.

Any defects and errors are reported by the hazardous goods officers without delay, which makes a further contribution to safe transport. A further role of the hazardous goods officers is to advise the company and its personnel on all questions relating to the shipment of hazardous goods, which ensures they are always up-to-date with the latest statutory requirements. They are also responsible for selecting the suitable means of transport, containers and packaging materials for dealing with hazardous goods. In addition they make sure that personnel dealing with such goods know the applicable regulations and receive the necessary training. They also take immediate action if there are accidents or incidents of any kind.
