70,000 plastic bags saved!

We have already redesigned several articles across the range that simply don't need individual packaging.  In these cases, the polybags have simply been dispensed with.  The products involved are caps and bags, for example.  In this way we have been able to do without almost 70,000 polybags within two months.

Globally, two billion tonnes of waste are currently produced every year.  Due to the effects of the Corona pandemic this mind-boggling figure has risen even further and, according to experts, is expected to grow to 3.4 billion tonnes by 2050.

Yet two-thirds of this waste is generated by only 16 per cent of the world's population.  These are the people living in highly developed countries, including Germany.  For this reason, too, we have a special responsibility to revise our everyday processes and optimise them to save waste.  Plastic waste, which also includes polybags, is a particularly serious problem.  If they aren't disposed of properly they can pollute bodies of water and ecosystems for centuries, if not millennia. 

Of course, as a company we are in a special position to make a difference, but every individual can also make a contribution.  With 632 kilos of waste per person per year, we Germans are well above the EU average.  And even though in Germany we already do a lot of recycling, it is much better if the waste is not created in the first place.  Our products can also help.  For example, it is more environmentally friendly to bring drinks from home in drinking bottles instead of buying ready-filled drinks.  Or you can use one of our special products for storing food and avoid buying fruit or vegetables in plastic bags. 

In this way we can always work together to produce less waste!
