Small label increases environmental awareness

The operation of websites also generates greenhouse gases. Under the banner of its "Climate-neutral website" label Cybergroup offsets the emissions which are caused, a project that also raises environmental awareness with regard to digitalisation.

It is not just since the construction of its new facility in Mannheim that Cybergroup has paid attention to social and environmental commitment. With the newly occupied building complex, cyber-Wear is simultaneously entering a new era with a freshly defined corporate philosophy based on sustainability, social responsibility and quality management. cyber-Wear is aware of its responsibility towards the environment as well as towards its employees and suppliers. The company's new HQ in the low-energy building, with among other things self-sufficient energy supplies, reflects these newly defined core values.

 

A much-discussed issue in relation to environmental protection is reducing CO2 emissions or - if these are unavoidable - providing equivalent compensation. Although this is not a silver bullet, it nevertheless helps to achieve climate goals and raise awareness of environmental protection. For example, when we surf no one thinks about the fact that surfing itself causes greenhouse gases. And of course operating a website also causes CO2emissions. For many years to come, more than 60% of the energy required for this rapidly growing digitalisation will come from the generation of electricity from fossil fuels such as oil, lignite or hard coal.

 

For this reason, a small green "Climate-neutral website" flag has recently appeared on the Cybergroup website. Behind this restrained indication lies a highly exciting project. The initiative not only calculates the corresponding CO2emissions and the necessary compensation costs on the basis of page impressions. It also links compensation with support for social projects, so that climate neutrality makes all the more sense. All the social projects presented have been checked in advance and have already been implemented in detail within the PROJECT TOGO climate protection project.

 

Among other things, different tree planting packages can be selected, because planting native trees provides additional jobs and good air quality. For example, in this case in Togo local varieties are planted in a professional and extensive process. The progress of the project can be followed on www.eco-cent.de. The initiative also showcases other projects such as the construction of schools and wells.
