We've been awarded it: the promotional licence for the FSC® seal of approval.

FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is one of the seals that everyone knows by now. The organisation, which advertises with the slogan "Forests For All Forever", awards certifications for interrelated product chains. This means that a product from the forest, or in the case of recycled material, from the collection point to the point where the end product is sold with FSC® labelling, is subject to the organisation's strict regulations. Since we as dealers don't manufacture products, but certainly wish to promote them, we applied for and finally received the promotional licence for the FSC® label. This means that we are now allowed to promote the FSC®-certified products of our suppliers in a legally compliant manner. At the same time we wish to support the partnership-based cooperation with our suppliers in supply chain management.

The FSC® is the most reliable organisation for safeguarding important environmental and social standards in relation to forests. With globally valid standards, the unprecedented involvement of all relevant stakeholders and the support of reputable companies as well as recognised independent environmental and social organisations, the FSC® is considered the most credible solution for sustainable forest management. The certificate is awarded after a successful audit by independent third parties, an audit which is repeated at least annually. Worldwide, more than 210 million hectares of forest are FSC® certified. More than 42,000 companies worldwide have FSC® certification for trading in and processing certified materials.

In Germany around 1.44 million hectares of forest are FSC® certified, and around 3,750 companies have their product chain certified according to FSC® standards (as of May 2020) . In German forests, the FSC® seal stands for forest management that does not overexploit the forest, promotes biodiversity and acts transparently towards interested citizens and organisations. Clear-felling during regular timber harvesting is prohibited, and pesticides may only be used if required by law. The FSC® is committed to increasing the number of natural mixed woodland, protecting the forest floor and conserving rare species and ecosystems. This means that FSC® certified forests are more resilient in a changing climate and, as an ecosystem, can bind more CO² in the long term. FSC® ensures fair wages for the people working in the forest and more public participation in caring for the forest.
